as far as i know when you cut down bamboo it will grow leaves from the cut part. it will then use the energy from the leaves to make new bamboo shoots elsewhere.

How do the splits travel the full length of the bamboo (as seen after he opened the culm up) when he was only striking at the nodes with the axe? I know from experience that when you strike the nodes with the blade of axe, the bamboo does not split all the way to the adjacent nodes on either side.
Probably because your technique was lacking. After making those splits at the top, are you properly lining up your cuts with the previous ones when you move onto the next node(s)? If you do it properly, they'll travel straight down the entire length of the bamboo without completely detaching. It takes a decent amount of practice to get good at this.
@@spwnker8550 yeah it was my first time trying it, as you say the key is to line up the splits on each node and also sometimes you have to strike with the axe in between the nodes as well to get the split to travel the full length
Just curious why it turned black... what would you have to do if you wanted it light brown?
Thank you could’ve just brought a little torch to it with some heat treatment you could’ve gotten a 90° angle that much sharper

This information SHOULD be made accesible in the native language (Spanish) too. I think it is embarrassing it is not: you are working with a native specie and the Oficial Language in its native territory is not English. Natives should be able to enjoy this without the imposition of a foreign language. If your commercial activity is based in a not natively spoken lanfuage your should at least formaly translate your activity.
In other order of thigs, very glad to have English speaking representation in the field in Colombia🌱😝
